On the topic of all the Spanish Miiverse posts...

#1RainingMetalPosted 4/1/2013 3:28:04 PM
...No, it wasn't necessarily an April Fool's post (though I can understand why people would say it is), nor was I being xenophobic (apparently people can't read the first few words of a given message). I was only being curious towards the abundancy of Spanish-language posts in general. I had a feeling they were likely coming from Mexico and the Central-American nations, I was just asking if the Miiverse really was that popular down there.

Simple investigation, not insults.

I'm the reason they closed it, not you. Sorry bud.

So, is the reason behind the 1-3 out of Miiverse posts being Spanish because of immense popularity in the Central American region?

According to Iwata you see more Miis that are closest to you than Miis from the rest of the world.
If you live in the US there is already an abundance of spanish speakers. Then there's Mexico being close by if you live the west coast.

We can easily see (using wikipedia) that both Canada and USA have a population of up to 350 million.
Up to 1jul 2012, the population of the whole continent is 953.565.000. Supposing that the 350 million of english countries only speack english (not true as a lot of them speak spanish) we can see that nearly 2/3 of the whole continent doesn't speak english in a common basis. You could have easily also messed portuguese with spanish (and portuguese is only spoken in Brazil).
Taking that into consideration, we can assume a 2/3 post of miiverse not in english. But in a serious tone, it should be something like 1/5 or 1/10. You know, USA is not as big as it seems =P.
Ten en cuenta que la población mas grande del continente se encuentra en Mexico.

That's true. Though English is the most spoken language in the world, but usually as a second language.

Living in Canada, I'm in a position where there are actually native-English speakers, so maybe I'm just taking things for granted. But still, an automatic translation system would be beneficial.

1-3 out of Miiverse posts being Spanish

I don't know what Miiverse you're posting on but I've never seen 1 out of 3 posts being in Spanish. If you'd educate yourself you'd know that Spanish is the second most used language in the United States.

The problem of those is that they translate as crap, and that if we don't consider grammatical errors. Come on, most of the translations of spanish to english are crappy because we don't write the subject or we order the phrase in a different way XD

Not just for spanish either. Portuguese, french, japanese, chinese, polish, etc, etc...

The only thing an automatic translator would do would be motivate idiots to reply stupidly and only make the people speaking the other language pissed.
