Do you use an external HDD? If so, what kind?

I want to get some sort of memory expansion for my Wii U, however I'm not a fan of my HDD requiring its own power supply. A memory card won't be enough for the amount I download.

I was also considering an external usb SSD. If these actually work, and work well, I may go this route regardless of the price. Thanks for any input.

I got a Seagate 1TB solid state external HD for my computer when I needed to reformat my computer. I figured that being a solid state drive, it wouldn't need an external power supply to work with the Wii U, but it still didn't work with it. Buying a Y-cable made it work with the Wii U though.

That had to be pretty expensive, judging from the current prices on the market.

That's basically what I'm looking for though. I could probably get away with less space though. Maybe 320-500gb.

I bought one that Nintendo recommended I think its Toshiba 1TB
