I've been wondering...Why isn't the Zelda series called "The Legend of Link?"

Hylia rules over Hyrule.

Link is the just the pawn who fights in dungeons, beats bosses, and wields the Master Sword. There is no legend of Link in the stories.

So it's safe to say Link dies or something after every Zelda? Because there'd be no reason not to make him King or some authority figure. But since he's mute, people probably just take advantage of him or something.
