Stop trying to trick these poor, innocent people into believing in an imaginary genre. First Person Adventure... ololz. Might as well be telling them Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny are real and are your dads.

Myst says wassup.

This. There are tons of first person Adventure games. Metroid Prime is not one of them. Metroid Prime is an FPS with an emphasis on exploration and interaction with the environment. Amnesia is a First Person Adventure game.

Metroid Prime fans are just unique in that they're so closed off from the rest of the gaming world that they instantly attribute scripted, multiplayer-centric FPS games with the genre, and it's a negative enough connotation for them that they desperately attempt to shoehorn Metroid Prime into a different genre because for some reason it offends them that Metroid Prime would be called an FPS.

These are people who don't recognize the incredible range of gameplay and story-telling that FPS games offer. You have scripted, multiplayer-centric games like Call of Duty. You have immersive, singleplayer romps like Half-Life. You have cheeky, arcade experiences like Serious Sam. You have serious, RPG-centric games like Deus Ex. You have horror games like Doom. You have dungeon-crawling inspired Borderlands. You have serious strategic stories like Brothers in Arms. You have epic battlefield simulations like Battlefield.

Metroid Prime is just another creative application of the FPS genre.

Ever had a moment where someone said something so stupid you can't think of a good reply?

But seriously, MP was classified a First Person Adventure well before the genre went to hell, so your entire argument is invalid.
