Would you be pissed if Nintendo announced a new console in 2-3 years?

I honestly cant see the Wii U holding up well when the PS4 and 720 are out, its features and hardware capabilities are rather dated compared to new consoles launching with 8GBs of RAM.

And we have all given up on Wii U doing Wii numbers or tapping into that market for huge sales. I cant blame Nintendo if they want to move on from the Wii U as soon as possible

if I can take all of my vc with me, and it really was a great system, I'd be fine.

I'd expect them moving on in 5-7 years.

I expect them to announce a new one at e3 2016, for holiday 2017 release. With the exception of the nes and the Wii, all their home consoles have had 5 year lives before the successor came out, so 2017 release (they pretty much always release consoles during the holidays). They seem to announce nearly every main system at e3 the year before release no matter what time it year it will release (3ds at e3 2010, released in 2011. Wii u at e3 2011, release in 2012). E3 2016 is and l around 3 years away, so no, I wouldn't be mad, I would be expecting it.

The fanboys here would LOVE that - another chance to give Nintendo lots of money, in just one purchase!

I can see them announcing a new console in about 3 years. By then, Wii U will be on its way to 4 years old.
New console will release in about 4 or so years.

The usual Nintendo life cycle.

no. Depending on what it was I would buy it. I think we can all agree that the Wii U is an overall terrible system. Sure, good games will eventually come out for it which will make it worthwhile, but the hardware/software problems alone should have been solved 6-7 years ago.

I can see them releasing a console that's about 1/2 as powerful as the PS4/720 in 5 years.

2 years is a little soon, but I'd say 3 years is realistic. If there even is another Nintendo console after this one.

they have the PC version of Darksiders 2 running on WiiU in 1080 native at 60 fps and full graphics options on. Neither 360 or PS3 can come close

Well, let me see...

The Wii U was announced in mid-2011, but it didn't come out until late-2012. Three years from now would be mid-2016, meaning the successor wouldn't come out until late-2017, meaning the Wii U was the primary console of its company for 5 years, roughly the same length of time as the Xbox (4 years), GameCube (5 years), N64 (5 years), SNES (6 years), and PS2 (6 years).

So, no. Not really.
