Transferred my Wii data to my Wii U. Any way to transfer a save back to the Wii?

#1Star_NutsPosted 5/4/2013 1:17:58 PM
So I transferred all my data from my Wii to my Wii U. Now, I'm trying to play Smash Bros on my Wii since the Wii U doesn't support GameCube controllers but my data is now in my Wii U. I went on my Wii U, switched to Wii mode, found the Smash Bros save, but the 'copy' and 'move' icons are greyed out. I'm trying to put it on a memory card but I can't even select the save and I searched for another Smash Bros file but it was the only one. Am I missing something?

Games that use online functions, such as WiiConnect24, cannot be transferred into a SD card. So saves for games like Smash Bros, Mario Kart Wii, and Sin & Punishment cannot be transferred. However, you can transfer saves like Mario Galaxy or any other game that has no online connect, provided that you have played that game on that Wii at least once.

Brawl has network play, doesn't it? Save files for Wii games with network play were never copy-able in the first place, and were always locked to their console.

There is, however, an adaptor that lets your Wii Remote read a Gamecube controller as a classic controller.

if you install homebrew on both the Wii U and the Wii you might be able to do it... I think that's the only way. I think homebrew voids your warranty though so i don't know if it's worth risking it to run it on the wii u.

You can move most Wii game save data back and forth between a Wii and a Wii U's Wii Channel via SD card, but copy-protected data is stuck there. Brawl's data is copy-protected.
