nintendo still made a nice profit on the n64 and the cube so it did print money for htem

both made far more money for nintendo than the ps3 did for sony

No one's talking about Sony and their stupid mistakes.

How much profit did Virtual Boy make? How many people predicted the failure of the SNES and GBA? The Nintendo cycle is just a joke. Not something to bet on.

All kinds of people predicted the SNES and GBA would fail.

Are you nine years old or something?

Need an option for "OMG, Nintendo has MONEY IN THE BANK!! They'll keep sinking money into a failing business for decades!!!"

Except Nintendo is still making money. They posted one loss in in 30 years. Sony has been losing money for the previous 10 years and hasn't made a profit on the PS3 at all. Neither one is going anywhere any time soon. Not unless Sony as a corporation collapses. And even then they would probably just restructure from an electronics company to an entertainment company only making games/movies/music.

Nintendo had a $366 million operating loss last year. They spent more money than they brought in. The only reason they eked out a small profit is because the value of the yen dropped (so their foreign assets effectively went up in value in yen).

And if we had a more detailed breakdown, I GUARANTEE you that, if any sector of their business was profitable, it was 3DS.

Bottom line: Nintendo's business is still doing very poorly and they are spending more than they're bringing in.

they have the PC version of Darksiders 2 running on WiiU in 1080 native at 60 fps and full graphics options on. Neither 360 or PS3 can come close

The combining of Nintendo's portable and console hardware divisions might be a clue as to where they're going in the future. They could make a console that doubles as a portable, instead of making two seperate pieces of hardware.

That way any developer that wants to support Nintendo's handhelds would also be supporting their console, effectively. Plus we'd have a unified eShop, and hopefully a decent amount of backwards-compatible games.

Yes I belive it will be their last "home" console, they'll just continue to dominate on the handheld portion of their products.

Just like how the Vita maybe Sony's last "handheld" console. Since you know both the Wii U and Vita are both selling badly.

You think that a company that has over 11 billion dollars in the bank is going to stop doing the very thing that game them that 11 billion dollars in the first place?

Wii U will still be a "success" in terms of turning a profit 6 years from now but it will likely be a GCN-type scenario where sales will be on the low side in comparison unless things really turn around. Nintendo will likely be around as long as dedicated consoles are still a thing.

I'm a living contradiction. I own a PS3 and a Wii U. A 3DS and a Vita. And the catch to that? I enjoy them all!

Oh spare me. It was never like this. You'd have to be 9 to believe the Nintendo cycle is an actual thing.

You do realize wiiU/3DS is the first time Nintendo lost money in like their entire existence right? What makes you think it will be like it was then when it's already not?
