Indeed, there are some console-defining games not by Nintendo on Nintendo consoles:

Konami (Contra, Castlevania), Capcom (Mega Man, Resident Evil 4), Square (Final Fantasy, Super Mario RPG, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana), Enix (Dragon Quest), Rareware (Donkey Kong Country, Donkey Kong 64, Goldeneye 007, Perfect Dark, Banjo-Kazooie & Tooie, Conker's, Jet Force Gemini), Retro (Metroid Prime), Silicon Knights (MGS Twin Snakes, Eternal Darkness).

I've found that Quest 64 does have a cult following. I never understood it mind you and was shocked when a friend told me he thought the game was actually really fun - but I've met people in real life who somehow enjoyed the game - people that normally have very good taste, to boot.
