The only bad thing I find about the WiiU

#1oq7sterPosted 5/17/2013 8:57:08 AM
It is really expensive to get a full multiplayer setup. Each WiiU remote plus is 39.99 plus 19.99 for the nunchuck. It's almost $60.00 per individual. So we are looking at around $239.92 without taxes for a complete 5 player setup one of them using the included WiiU gamepad. I don't know how many pro controllers does the WiiU support but if its 4 then that would be 200 plus taxes.
Oh well.

Craigslist and Ebay. You can buy Wii systems with 2 controllers and nunchucks for $60, there is no need to buy them retail at this point.

It's just slightly more expensive than a full set-up with PS3 or 360.

It's not quite as bad as it seems. First of all, there's a number of Wii games that come with extra controllers at discounted prices, you can use those to get extra controllers. Secondly, most games only need the Wii remote for multiplayer, especially with games that support 4 players rather than 2.

I generally find this is enough to play pretty much anything you could want:

4 Wii remote plus = ~$100
2 Nunchuks = $40
2 Classic Controllers = ~$40

So it's a fair bit but it's not that absurd for 5 player multiplayer.

That is a bad thing TC but PS3 is near just as bad (55-60 before taxes). On top of needing to buy the move and move controllers, then it looks a bit better.

No need to even involve the Vita.costs.

It is one of the downsides to being a gaming hobbyist. Then again no hobby is cheap in time nor cost.

Well that's true, no hobby is cheap. I will see if kmart has some Wii remote plus, the ones on the blister pack, they will work the same and they are 20 something.

Actually its a lot worse, and a ton of crap to have in your entertainment system

4 Wii motes
4 Classic Controllers
4 GameCube Controllers with Extentensions
2 Nunchucks
1 Charging Station
1 Wii Fit

Compared to my PS3
2 USB short 1 inch cords for charging
4 Controllers

Yes I enjoy playing older games so my Wii has VC and GC games I still play, but so does my PS3. I play PS1 games, PS2, and PS3. And don't have to manage batteries (charging station + rechargeable battery packs). blah.

You don't need the Vita for multiplayer on PS3, that is just an option. But everything else is pretty much correct.

Yup. I wanted mine to be 5-player ready on launch day, and I sold my Wii long ago, so I had to start from the ground up. $350 + $160, just to play Nintendoland in its full 5-player glory. EEK.

Fun, yes, but f***ing EEK.
