So according to today's poll, most people's major problem with the Wii U is...

...not enough third party support? Not enough games?

But the games are coming! Good games! This has gotta be a mistake, I thought people didn't like the Wii U because it was underpowered, or because you can't set up personal accounts on it or something.

If it's just a matter of games, they're on the way, right? Or do they need to be third party exclusives?

Nintendo hasn't had consistent 3rd party support since the SNES. They don't really need it, I think first party games will sell it.

Yes, the games are coming. Only a year later than promised of course. And then what? What happens after Smash Bros. and Mario Kart? Shovelware for another 3 years until the next iterations of these increasingly tired series come out? 3rd parties are necessary to keep a system even slightly desirable.

To be fair, "make it more powerful" wasn't exactly an option.

That's what I'm saying, there are two flaws Nintendo is known for, not a lot of third-party support, and being late to employ disc technology. And that hasn't really killed them yet, has it?

It's gotta be something else. Or maybe the poll doesn't have enough options.

It sounds more like people are wanting that in addition to what Nintendo already plans on doing. Bringing out the 1st-party software.

As for filling out the year with good releases, one must ask, how many games a year does a console need to stay relevant? How many good games, that is?

How many good games do the other consoles have?

The games Nintendo offers can only amuse the same people for so long. The older gaming community is getting tired of their games.

Look at the Wii U top 10. Not only are they all sequels, but they all are games in series that have been beaten TO DEATH, and almost all of them feature the same group of characters (the mario group).

This can only work for so many systems before it gets old....

The Wii worked because it appealed to parents and families, who could care less about the lack of different games. So they bought Wii's for their kids. The Wii U isn't different enough from the original Wii to grab the interest of those parents who already bought Wii's

A lot of the games people care about don't even have a release date. Furthermore, there is no guarantee that these games will be good or great. Don't get me wrong, Nintendo games are never bad, but I don't think people will rush out to get a console just to play cute little games like Pikmin.

If Nintendo went all out and started releasing ground-breaking games, you better believe people would buy the Wii U. It's all about the games indeed, and so far the outlook is murky.
