They haven't even given a good reason besides "if you want backwards compatibility, then you're backwards". At least with Sony they blame the Cell, but there's no legit reason for X1 to not run any of that.

Yes there is. Emulating the 360 is probably not possible on the XB1 and they're not going to include the full 360 chipset inside due to pricing issues and how unreliable it is. The "you're backwards" line is more than likely in reference to how backward it would be to put something extra into a system when you're not breaking even as it is.

They could figure out a way to emulate it, since it's boasting all this power.

It may be boasting a lot more power, but emulation requires a significant degree more powerful than the original system. Due to the division of ram, difference in key components and the OS, it's quite likely that the XBoned is not powerful enough to emulate the 360 in a stable, presentable manner. It took years for the PS3 to start getting PS2 classics, and the PS2 emulator that was used for some of the backwards compatible models was, at best, shoddy. The same could easily be the case here.

Microsoft is just screwing over their consumers, like normal. It's literally the only console I want to see fail.

You're getting screwed over the least. You're still getting screwed over.

There's a difference between a troll and someone who wants the thing that's killing gaming gone.
