I'd love to see Super Mario Sunshine 2

I know it wasn't too popular but I really enjoyed it and the setting of the game was really cool. Using the water tool was great (although frustrating at times)

It's my favorite 3D Mario, so I'd love a sequel :)

Would rather have Nintendo spend their time on a new 3D Mario than to see THAT again.

You and me both. That game is awesome, and doesn't get enough credit.

Because Mario doesn't get enough sequels already...

Absolutely!

From a gameplay/technical perspective I truly feel that SMS was the BEST Mario game and of course BEST platformer... period.

For reference, I've been playing Super Mario games since 1986 and have loved every entry.

With that being said, I liked Super Mario Galaxy, but was left longing for another SMS/S64 type game.

I was also little let down by New Super Mario Bros. 2 (3DS). I also haven't tried New Super Mario Bros. U as I am waiting until Mario Kart 8 to buy a Wii U (I purchased Gamecube, Wii and 3DS at launch and the 3DS launch left a bad taste in my mouth...

A level that I hated and could never pass the first time I played it was the hotel level with the giant poison paint stingray. But when I had gone back to play it in other playthroughs, it was the level I looked forward to most. The setting of that area is awesome, with the sun casting that orange glow.

I wanna play the game right now, but I stupidly sold it ages ago

it's a great game that unjustly criticized, but hardly deserving of a sequel. Mario Galaxy getting a sequel made sense, Sunshine not so much.

Perhaps not so much as a sequel in regards to plot, but rather a follow up to the gameplay/camera style.
