Why isn't the Wii Menu just integrated into the Wii U one?

I thought that they'd fix this with the last big update, but all they did was allow a direct boot. Which I would think indicates no intention of changing it. Have they given a reason? Or does anyone have any ideas?

probably so that if they ever decide to remove backwards compatibility it will be easier to do.

The Game. When you think about the game you lose the game. You just lost the game. Welcome to the game.

If you play DS games on the 3DS you can directly start the DS game, but on the Wii U, you have to completely reload the Wii OS to play the game. While a bit annoying I wouldn't say this is a big deal.

I think it has something to do with how some Wii games expect the Wii's OS to be there (like Mario Galaxy putting messages on the Wii message board). Those games might get confused if they were running on something else.

I think it is a big deal... they should have made it so that putting a wii game in and starting it in the wii u menu should start the game.. the way they have it now it just makes it so you have 2 wii os starters. There isn't any reason that pressing a on the disk icon shouldn't just start the game.

It's just pointless to have 2 buttons that do the same thing...
