A remake of Donkey Kong 64 or a sequel would have my money. But, they can't remake it, it's owned by Rareware, which has went to the dark side.

I'm not really a DK fan, so I don't particularly care. That said, 3D adventure games are a dime a dozen these days, while 2D platformers are nearly a lost art. So if I was a DK fan, I wouldn't mind at all that they're making another 2D DKC title.

Donkey Kong 64 is owned by Nintendo not by Rare.

DK64 was vastly inferior to its 2D predecessors on SNES.

DKCR being 2D is exactly what the series needed in order to bring it back to a top quality IP.

DK is a series based on speed, rhythmic movement, lots of time spent airborne, etc. 3D lends itself better to open world wandering and slower, more careful gameplay. that's not DK.

Agree.

I'm not interested in 2D Donkey Kong games, but a 3D one would be an instant buy for me.

The first two Donkey Kong Country games are among the best games ever.

Donkey Kong Country Returns is mediocre.

So, yeah, I would have loved it if Retro would have made a 3D one instead, but at least they are making Dixie and Diddy playable (single player) this time!
