I'd look at it this way, both 8 and 32gb are paltry by todays standards, and in both scenarios you'll likely want or perhaps need to use an external HDD depending on your buying habits( i.e how much DLC you purchase). Look at the extra $50 mainly as getting a game( Nintendoland), and a charge cradle/ stand and console stand, and determine if thats worth it. Of course you cant really 'discount' the extra storage as far as including it in that $50 value.

Given that NintendoLand itself is worth the extra 50 Bucks (imo), think of it as buying a WiiU with a game and getting some free accessories like a bigger HDD and some cradles.

You can get Nintendoland for around 20 dollars on Amazon new, and for even less than that used. If you were planning on buying digital games, then you would have been planning on buying a hard drive anyway. If you buy the 8 gig and then Nintendoland, you would save money and you could put that towards a external hard drive.

8 gig. Get a 500gb external harddrive. And Nintendo Land is pretty cheap. Plus the black wii u shows more dust and fingerprints.

a cradle, stand, a digital promotion i'll never use, plus still a very small amount of memory isn't that appealing. just get the barebones version and buy a massive HDD if you plan to buy digital.

My head hurts. If he plans to buy digital he should get the deluxe so he gets the digital promotion, I've already pulled about $20 back (and the 32GB is not full yet).

In the end tho comes down to if you want to pay $20-30 for Nintendoland, that's the value I perceive it as included in that bundle when you factor in digital promotion. The cradle and stands are throw-aways to me.

I bought my basic for 252 after tax from a kmart that closed. Adding more storage isn't an issue for me.

I spent the extra $50 on the deluxe.
Doubt I would run out of memory, but would rather not chance it.
Plus I wanted the free NintendoLand. At the time, only the deluxe had it.
