Will never work, Miyamoto is all about gameplay and it's mechanics, he doesn't specialize in story.

You act like Miyamoto has done anything of any significance in the last 10 years. Apart from Mario galaxy, he's done bugger all since 2002 with Pikmin. Nothing but rehashes and recycled ideas.

apart from some of the highest rated games of all time? you cant just leave that out lol

Well, let's see.

Super Mario Galaxy - directed by Yoshiaki Koizumi.
Super Mario Galaxy 2 - directed by Hideki Konno.
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker - directed by Eiji Aonuma.
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess - directed by Eiji Aonuma.

The list of games released in the last 10 years approximate, which Nintendo made and are considered among the best ever.

By the way, which games do you refer to when you mention the "highest rated games of all time"?

A lot of other people at Nintendo played a bigger role in those games than Miyamoto did. It's actually more accurate to leave those games out than to give him credit for them.

I often wonder what kind of games he might have made in the last 10-12 years if he actually still focused on simply directing/producing one game at a time. I also wonder what might have happened at Nintendo if he had simply retired and some new blood was allowed to take the reigns. It will be a sad day when he retires, but it could also be an exciting one. Nintendo clearly have some other talented people there and I'd like to see some of them let loose.

Yes. While we're at it, we should get Kojima to direct the next Mario and Ed Boon to direct the next Gran Turismo.

Unlikely. JRPGs aren't about the "direct fun through gameplay"-stuff that Miyamoto excels at; There is a completely different philosophy behind the "fun" of JRPGs, which, even though Miyamoto maybe understands it in its basics, he is not suited for designing it.

An unfortunate sentiment.

No, it's like asking Sakaguchi to create a racing gme.

Funny you mention that:

Funny you mentioned that. Have you heard of the story behind Final Fantasy? Sakaguchi himself admitted that action games are not his thing, but storytelling is.
