If Retro was making a Metroid game, I'd be fine with that.

At this stage, I trust them the most. Even though I really want them to make a new IP, I want more so for there to be a fantastic Metroid title again; Metroid, honestly, needs to become mainstream like Mario or Zelda.

Who said anything about an FPS Metroid? If I wanted that, I would be asking for NST to make Metroid Prime Hunters 2, not for Retro to continue its first-person perspective action-adventure video game series.

I'd rather a new IP or a reboot of Star Tropics.

That being said, I'm still interested in Tropical Freeze.

StarTropics would be nice. I can, for some reason, envision it being a very good Banjo-styled platform dungeon-based collectathon game.

New IP catered to the more hardcore is more likely.

I remember when ridiculous nomenclature like hardcore and casual didn't exist.

This is the cancer on the industry; the fact that gaming has to segmented in this way.

They've always existed. The terms have just changed.

No, they really haven't.

It's a recent (5 year) turn of phrase created to alienate the very crowd that are integral to the industry doing well by those that believe their chosen medium is becoming diluted or inferior.

This never existed in the 80's - Gamers were just gamers.

Not even remotely true. were you even alive during those times? Gamers were always divided into subcategories.
