POLL: why do you think GTA V isn't coming to Wii U?

#11acangialPosted 8/3/2013 12:09:49 PM
One of the choices, "Rockstar Hates Money", is just silly. No company out there hates money. In fact, it's Rockstar's love of money that is preventing them from coming to Wii U. The cost to port to Wii U and marketing will most assuredly be greater than the revenue earned when considering the tiny install base and general G/PG rated demographics of Wii U.

Rockstar officially stated that they had lost a great amount of money with their investments in the PS360 last generation and have said that at this time, they are simply playing it safe and stating where there is an established user base instead of investing in the PS4/X1/Wii U or PC.

Isn't it current gen only? PS4 and Xbone aren't getting it either, so I don't see why it should be on Wii U. Unless they make a remastered version or something.

Wii U has a lot more in common with PS3/360 than with PS4/Xbone. Plus Wii U gets a lot of other current-gen games that look and play pretty much identically to the PS3/360 versions.

Except it's configuration is closer to the PS4/XB1. Just because ports of PS3/360 games were designed to look and run like PS3/360 games doesn't mean it's limited to PS3/360 capabilities.

It has less than 1/4 the usable RAM of PS4 and Xbone. It has less than 1/10 the main memory bandwidth of PS4 and Xbone. It's has a triple-core version of the Wii's CPU.

If you honestly think Wii U is in the same ballpark as PS4, you're fooling yourself.

Wii U can't run it without a substantial effort porting it to Wii U's architecture

Developers have gotten lazy.

I said configuration, not power. Learn to read.

You are the right track, at least for PS3; but I believe they made a shipload from 360 sales.

That was the "joke" option. Some people here seem to think game developers are actively going against their own best interests by not supporting Wii U.

Low user base and it would take time to develop the game.

Not sure why this is still being asked.

Rockstar has a bad relationship with Nintendo. The relatively poor install base of the Wii U compared to the other two consoles doesn't help it, at all. It published three games for the Wii.

The game runs on an Xbox 360. The Wii U is at least four times more powerful without calculating sRAM and eDRAM. It has absolutely nothing to do with the hardware.

If you were the CEO of Rockstar (or even Bethesda, now that I think about it), you'd do the same thing in a heartbeat.

Besides, the entire series is steal car - shoot up city - get dat money. It's not something I'd have bought a Wii U for in the first place.
