"However, the Wii U's lower frame-rates, patience-testing loading screens and occasional freezing issues can't be ignored either, meaning we'd advise caution before buying this version. It feels rushed to market in these respects, and until a worthy patch arrives, the contest must be narrowed down to PS3 and 360 - a stalemate that itself can only be broken via your preference for either visual fidelity or performance."

By lower frame rate read: "When in close quarter combats for a second or two". I'll be playing stealthy so I won't even notice it. Regardless, it isn't even much of a difference from the other versions, it's 2 or 3 fps.

As for the loadings I can certainly handle them so I don't get a blurry and teary mess.

The only problematic thing is the freezing which shouldn't be all that common.

I take it you're not intending to play online at all then? There'll be plenty of times where stealth goes out the window and you'll have to run, or you're a merc and will be running and gunning after a cheeky little spy.

Plus the Wii U version lacks an entire mode.

It may be the prettiest console version (when not in motion), but it's far from being the 'best version' entirely.

The Wii U has the best image quality out of the three console versions, since it runs at 720p with 2xMSAA and Vsync.

It is a shame that the textures are lower res and the load times beimg lomger because of it not having the install option. Perhaps Ubisoft could release a patch to fix this?

The Wii U version was kinda rushed, with Ubisoft Toronto having to cut offline co-op in order to not delay it.

This makes no sense, how can the Wii U version have worse textures? The GPU on Wii U has more RAM for handling textures. In fact, here's a quote from Michel Ancel of Ubisoft:

"You can really have huge textures, and itís crazy because sometimes the graphic artist Ė we built our textures in very high-definition. They could be used in a movie. Then we compress them, but sometimes they forget to do the compression and it still works. So yeah, itís quite powerful."

Something tells me this is a case of sloppy porting rather than poor hardware.

Nice to see that the game runs at a full 1280x720 resolution on the Wii U, although the ~6% lower resolution of the Xbox 360 version probably wouldn't be very visible aside from scaling artifacts. The PS3's notably lower rendering resolution seems to hurt the overall clarity of the image on the other hand, with things looking a bit more muddy on it. Not a surprise that the resolution had to be downscaled due to the PS3's GPU. A little odd that the PS3 version runs smoothest, though.

But that's a pretty big list of downsides for the Wii U version, from worse texture quality to geometry pop-in to lower framerates to the absolutely abysmal load times. I mean holy hell, 30 seconds to a minute longer for every single loading screen...that's even worse than the difference we saw between PS2 and Xbox/Gamecube versions of games most of the time. It's a little strange that so many Wii U games have forced V-sync, it's like there's some kind of hardware or SDK issue that's preventing them from turning it off.

But a much worse way to stream them. There's a reason the PS3 version requires an install and the Xbox 360 needs an extra install to use the higher quality textures.
