Does anyone know of an HD game capture device that doesn't require a hooked PC?

I got Elgato and it's awful. I have all the system requirements, but the videos are laggy and spazzy as all hell. My Laptop has all of the requirements to run it, but it still doesn't record properly. I messed with the settings, lowered the quality. Still nothing.

Does Roxio require a computer to be hooked? I'm seriously grasping at straws here. Any help would seriously be appreciated.

On-topic, it's messing up when recording Wii U.

I have the Live Gamer Portable and the Game Capture HD (Game Capture bricked from a firmware update). I would recommend the Live Gamer Portable, or wait for the HD 2.

Does Avermedia work with both HD and older systems (NES, N64, etc.)? How do you transfer the stuff to a computer afterwards?

With the Game Capture HD you can use either a USB drive to capture or install a laptop drive. The USB drive can be plugging into your PC for downloading or you can transfer the footage from the hdd to a USB and then transfer which took a long time to me. I just take out the hdd and put it into an external cradle and get the footage.

I can record in 1080i but 720p seems play the smoothest. You should be able to capture any footage from your older consoles as long as you can plug it into the devices.

It doesn't come with a Flash Drive, right? Which kind should I get? 32GB?

Thanks! One more thing. It can only be connected to HDTVs, right? No CRTs? Curious because my older systems are connected to the CRT. I don't care that much, I can use a DVD Recorder for the older systems, but I'm wondering if it's for HDTVs only.

And you NEED to put a hard drive into it, right? Can you link me a good one that I can buy?

Game Capture HD is able to run with a USB drive only. It can record up to 1080p. It can only record and output using component cables.

LGP either needs a PC, or a certain type of SD card. It can record up to 1080p. It can record component and HDMI, but will only output HDMI.
