with the update, can you play Wiiware games on the Gamepad?

Alright it works when you're in off-tv play on pikmin 3.

For me, it doesn't seem to work when you're on the wiiU menu without the sensor bar. I guess the gamepad only turns it on when software tells it to turn it on?

It doesn't work in the WiiU menu for me at all, which includes getting into the vWii.

I didn't get a reaction out of it when I hid my sensor bar so I figured it didn't have one.

Trying it now I still get no pointer. Hm.

Did you not read? The system told you that you could use the Gamepad as a sensor bar.

At least I think it did.

You know the gaming industry is **** when the biggest announcement is that a console can play used games and won't totally screw you over.

The Gamepad's sensor can only be used in Wii Mode and Wii U games that support it.

So you still need the sensor bar to get into the vWii, because it makes you confirm with the wiimote cursor.

That sounds like a problem.

HOTFIX TOMORROW!?

or just hold B while the system is turning on I guess...

Or use a classic controller.

Seems way too hard to get the hand onto the confirmation button without being able to see the TV, and it doesn't display the message on the gamepad.

I really can't imagine a situation where playing a game on the Game Pad using a Wiimote would be more convenient than playing on the TV.

I totally agree. I have a really nice TV with the sensor bar all hooked up, so I do not need the GamePad, the thing that could have been used to play Virtual Console games as an alternate Classic controller, as an alternative screen.

So, until they realise that people will most likely NOT use it for Wii purposes or if you do not have a sensor bar (how the heck did you manage to break the sensor bar anyways!?) then I will only say this...

Back on the subject of WiiWare, I think shop games also benefit from the new aspect ratio system and display correctly in 4:3; in other words, like the VC games, WW games like Cave Story are in their intended ratio now instead of stretched (Cave Story looks great on the pad, by the way).
