The first wii game i played off tv was prime trilogy, corruption to be specific.

The longer Nintendo goes on without releasing games in a franchise, the less I end up caring. I'm still down for Metroid, Wave Race, a good Star Fox, F-Zero, etc., but realistically, I don't expect to see half of those any time soon or the other half at all.

I do (actually I was playing SUPER METROID just yesterday again!), I love the 2D and the 3D Metroids.

I've only been a fan of the 2D Metroid games and there hasn't been one in quite some time

Hardcore=/= Niche

Learn the difference. Niche games only appeal to a really small audience and generally sell to very small userbase. Pretty much every Metroid game has shipped over a million.
