Yep, and they're probably in the process of getting Gamepad controls working with it. Step-by-step.

I'll likely never play Wii games on my gamepad. Did the update make the OS faster?

If Platinum was HAND drawn, she'd be on paper, fool. This is a video game. They just made her on screen, no "drawing" involved -Delano7 on BlazBlue

I kinda doubt that, since most games need motion controls.

i think it did. i havent spent much time with it since updating, but even opening and closing the friends tab from either the home screen or menu screen felt faster. opening miiverse might have gotten faster too, but they added a 'world clock' feature that actually makes it feel like it takes more time.. dunno if that was necessary.

I don't see why not. I can play my legally bought Wii games on my computer with a controller just fine.

I just use the analog stick to control the Wii Pointer. I'm sure Nintendo could make that part work even better.

Key word: Most. There are a not insignificant number of games that support the Classic Controller, or can be played completely with the remote held NES style. Such a change would benefit those games.

Would love if they set it up so the Gamepad functioned as a Classic Controller, would probably get me back into Xenoblade.

I'm still trying to figure that one out, and wonder if this was the "big" September/October update. Miiverse start up seems to take longer than it did before, but my internet is pretty crappy.
