Stop calling it Sonic Galaxy

My advice to anyone who is interested in this game is to just replay Galaxy 1 and 2. By the time you're done with those, Lost World will be in the bargain bin with the rest of the trash where it belongs.

Sonic platformers have been consistently good for three years now, let it go.

well Sonic was doing it all first:

plus a game that was actually released, Knuckles Chaotix had a bunch of antigrav 3D running levels in 95:

but yeah even with a Galaxy vibe, SLW has totally different gameplay, just a similar gravity mechanic. completely different game design philosophy, you simply can not go into SLW with a SMG mindset and expect to do well.

Sonic X-treme is irrelevant, it was unreleased and not even close to being finished. Just like how it's considered irrelevant that Sony first had the idea of motion controls because they didn't successfully implement them at the time.

Sonic can never compared to Mario. Mario is a great platformer. Sonic is just running aimlessly on springs and ramps, trying get as many rings as you can without running into enemies.

Some of it is mario galaxy ish.

But remember levels are mostly very long tubes, not spheres.

That's only because spheres don't work as well for Sonic's speed. The game still looks very much inspired by Galaxy.

And Galaxy was obviously inspired from the Sonic Adventure Knuckles/Rogue levels, and Ratchet and Clank.

There was an article where miyamoto had no idea what ratchet and clank was.

Mario and Sonic are both great series, I like it when games take good concepts into sequels. Considering Nintendo helped Sega out with this one, it's not like how Sony took the Super Smash Bros. formula with their own characters. I'd hate to see great games with great features just be one-offs, if you know what I mean.

Not only that, but Mario games, at least the 3D ones have coherency in their level designs. I mean, there seems to be some overall structure to the levels that make sense. Sonic levels just feel like random crap stacked together with no rhyme or reason.

You know, once Sony leaves the hardware business, and goes third party, I would love a Ratchet and Clank/Mario cross over.
I think that Insomniac could do it, and do it well.
