On mobile devices, sub-hd resolutions are actually HD. 720p is pretty much overkill. The only reason why 1080p screens look better is because of the color, light, etc... but not the pixel count. So while the Gamepad's resolution technically isn't HD, it does look as good as HD and most people won't be able to notice a difference between that and actual HD resolutions in terms of pixel count.

And before you say that I'm just being critical because I don't know the bliss of HD or some nonsense like that, I own a Samsung Galaxy S4 with a 1080p screen.

You're in way over your head.

This is not how HD works and you have clearly not looked at the gamepad screen.

The gamepad is surprisingly good but I find it looks quite washed out and blurry compared to the TV.

Oh my God HD doesn't work that way

Yes, it does. You're probably a tool that actually believes bs marketing. And pixel density has nothing to do with something looking washed-out. The gamepad has a higher pixel-density than HDTVs, which means it's capable of an image that should be just as clear, pixel-wise. The reason of it looking washed out has more to do with the quality of the screen instead of the pixel density.

Wii games resolution = 480p. Gamepad resolution = 480p. Of course they look good. Just waiting for Nintendo to fix the controller issue.

seriously, they look stunning they must have similar resolutions because Smg2 looks like a next gen game when viewed on the pad, then a horrible mess when on my tv.Shame that the gamepad is completely impractical when it comes t wii games but i would imagine if we ever get gamecube on the vc those games will look stunning as well.

wii is 640x480 in 4:3
gamepad is 854x480

they do have very similar resolutions
