Mr. Miyamoto thinks so in an interview. Here's the link:

I hope not, that game already looked great in itself. If they're gonna make more remakes they should make them for games that would matter, like Super Mario 64, or Super Smash Bros.

Not sure what the Gamepad could add to make it the definitive version. Touching stuff on screen would be cumbersome and using the right stick as a cursor sounds awful. Doesn't sound like it will happen to me.

Agree, galaxy looks good enough.

My thoughts exactly. I just played Galaxy, it's still fun and it's still visually appealing.

Mario 64 on the other hand is over 15 years old, looks awful today and 2/3 of the ways to play it are with controllers I don't want to use for that kind of game (DS/3DS) or don't want to use at all (N64).

An HD remake of the DS Mario 64 with even more content on the Wii U would get me off my butt and to the game store as fast as you can say "Shut up and take my money". An HD remake of Galaxy...no thanks, I'll just play Galaxy.

You know I've beaten SM64 countless times (most on an N64) and I think it would feel so weird not using that controller. I beat it once on the DS but I hated those controls.

I'd like Mario 64 (DS version) and Super Mario Sunshine remade in HD.

I agree, as much as I'm not a fan of the N64 controller I prefer controlling Mario 64 with it than with either the DS or 3DS. However I loved all the added content in Mario 64DS and to play it with HD visuals on a TV screen with proper analogs would just be excellent.

So many remakes...

I'm fine with it, as long as these are all easy jobs that aren't taking resources from new games. Just use these projects as upgraded content to feed us between major releases.

Also, make sure these remakes are full featured. Give us F-Zero GX with online play.

Since we aren't getting many third party games this gen, maybe this is the only way to keep the release calendar full...
