This is why Nintendo did the stock rebalancing and took a lot of consoles back, so they could reissue them in a bundle that sells better rather than marking them down. This could be a good way to get some systems sold around the holidays. Kids wanting a system, but also wanting Skylanders.

This. The fact they're now including NintendoLand with 8GB models is also a plus. Also consider that as of now, that Skylanders Wii U starter pack is $70 on amazon so this is a smoking deal for parents who want to get one for their kids. We're looking at getting one for a relative and this bundle is beyond a good deal., All you're really losing out on are some cheap-o plastic stands and the cradle which are hardly selling pints. The only major loss is obviously the 32 GB hard drive but the Wii U can take external memory and kids won't ever need a larger drive anyway. The larger drive and NintendoLand were the two major selling points for the Deluxe and one of those is included here.

One thing though is I REALLY hope NintendoLand comes in an actual case like in the Deluxe model instead of in some cheap cardboard sleeve like Nintendo has been known to use.

It also comes with Nintendo Land.

So for $300, you get an 8GB model, a game that's even more expensive than other games (Skylanders) and another game. Doesn't seem like too bad a deal.

Good idea.

To be fair, the overall plot of the MGS series sounds like it was written by a 7 year old on amphetamines.-CrystalKing5426

That is going to get completely overshadowed by the Mario & Luigi bundle. This is a very poor attempt to get rid of their remaining basic models.

Parents with young children, for starters. It's a hell of a deal for them.

ITT: People who haven't been near children in the past year seriously underestimate the appeal of Skylanders.

That $70 can buy roughly a 1-2TB external HDD nowadays, if/when the 8GB runs dry.

This is going to sell really well. When parents this Christmas are looking for a new platform to buy, Their choices are XBone at 500 and PS4 at 400 or this bundle at 300 which comes with a game their kids are already screaming for.

I don't think it will sell, these kids probably already have a PS3/360 to play Skylanders on. And these bundles already exist for PS3:

XFD who would buy a Wii U Basic for $300? That's ****ing ridiculous.

There are $300 Deluxe models bundled with better games to boot.

I doubt most people would even notice the difference.

LOL,

You think this is going to sell?

So they are giving you the crappiest Wii U, plus 2 worthless games, one that is centered around physical DLC by buying stupid toys and this is going to sell.

Nintendo a year ago:

We promise the fans we will focus on core gaming once again with the Wii U, we acknowledge we lost much of the core gaming audience with the Wii but that will change.

Nintendo now:

Release a bundle with Skylanders and Nintendo Land.
