Nintendo should make a Zelda RPG in the vein of Mario RPG

I think SS had some RPG elements added to it (upgtading weapons etc). ALBW seems to follow in that formula as well.
But if you mean like turn-based battles and a deeper, more complex story then perhaps but it might not work.

Someone once made a "Paper Zelda" box cover mock-up that was funny.

If they were gong to make a turn-based RPG, I think they would need to create some very interesting mechanics to justify removing the traditional sword fighting combat.

I'd rather them make a proper zelda game. However a Nintendo RPG with all the characters would be ok with me.

It would be a nice spinoff. Maybe they could find a way to give you some control over sword fighting in the turn based combat. Maybe holding the button down before you attack(while having full health) and letting go at the right time would initiate a sword beam attack, sort of how hitting the button right when landing a jump in Mario RPG allowed for more damage/extra jumps.

I don't know.

I've always wondered why they didn't do one earlier, especially when you consider that the original Super Mario RPG split off into two separate series. However, the more I thought about it the more I realized a Legend of Zelda RPG wouldn't work - a Hyrule RPG might (I'd love a game chronicling the Imprisoning War) but a Zelda one... No.
