It's an obvious question, but the more you read reviews from (and I'm not trying to troll, since I own a PS4 and a Wii U) this generation, you get the feeling that development teams are so focused on graphical presentation that they lose sight of how important gameplay is.

Oh yes. I don't need photorealistic people in my games. That's Uncanny Valley territory, if I want hyper realistic graphics I'll just go outside. I remember when games used to be about fun. :(

Just look at the new IPs and see how well they did... Look at the Pros and then the Cons

When a game like Ryse is getting a 61 average on Metacritic, despite almost every review saying some variant of "the game is boring and sucks, but it looks good!" and the developer is famously quoted as saying "graphics are 60% of a game," then yeah, people care way too much about graphics.

Yes, I care about graphics.

It shows off why it's next gen. One of the attributes

You've got to have a balance of decent graphics and immersive gameplay, they're the two core factors for a successful game in my view.

Miss out on those two, then what's the point?

Literally nothing has changed in that regard since the Intellivision came out in 1979

I always have, but it doesn't make a game good. I saw som pretty crappy looking games last gen and have seen some 8th gen games that look like a**.

Wii U have poorest graphic among 8 gen, most of times 7 gen too. So, graphic dont matter here.

But that's sort of my point - If (and im not suggesting this the case, since I used my PS3 the most last gen) the Wii U has the most fun games, does it really matter how it looks?
