The WiiU needs a year like the 3DS..

It took the 3DS a little under 2 years to start flying off shelves so I'm hoping the same can happen with the WiiU in some way.

This year the 3ds got a TON of games which started the avalanche of sales. Starting with Fire Emblem Awakening.

3DS 2013 looked like this (Exclusives):

Feb: Fire Emblem Awakening
Feb: Etrians Odyssey 4
Mar: Luigi's Mansion
Mar:Monster Hunter 3
May: Donkey Kong Country
Jun: Animal Crossing
Jul:Shin Megami Tensei
Aug: Mario and Luigi Dream Team
Oct: Pokemon X/Y
Oct: Pheonix Wright
Nov: Zelda: Link Between Worlds

7 of 11 are First Party

and a couple games with mixed reviews but these were the Top tier ones! And looks how insanely the 3ds is selling now while people were saying that it was a failure last year! 11 friggen top notch games in a year!

Remember these are just exclusives with top tier ratings.

This year for the WiiU was:
Aug: Pikmin
Sep: W101
Oct: Zelda
Nov: Mario3dW

Although this is not alot it was enough to turn around the WiiU's situation. I also wasn't sure whether or not to put W101 on there because of the mixed reviews, but I did anyone because I beleive that the main problem people had with it were the controls but other than that it is a DEEP hard-core gamers game (lol)

Now lets look at the WiiU heavy hitters for next year:

Donkey Kong TF (eh...)
Bayonneta 2 (REALLY hope it's great, but seems amazing so far)
Mario Kart 8 (insta win)
Smash Bros U (insta win)
Hyrule Warriors (skeptical, also graphics are just awful but might still be in alpha stages)
X (I WANT!!!)

5 of 6 are first Party (nintendo owns Monolith so X is first party)

It may take longer to make a console game but this is only 6 games! Hopefully they have a lot more secret exclusive 3rd party games that will be revealed later... Here's hoping for a good E3. But a year like the 3ds will get this system soaring.

Of course it does. Problem is that 3DS won't give up the one it has.

The Wii U needs a release date for Smash that will be it

Smash and Mario Kart ADDING to some of the current Wii U game shoud make it a very nice system to have. Personally, I'm waiting on Zelda U, and I'll be as happy as a pig in s***.

Smash, Kart, and X are going to do a lot to make this year better than last on top of anything else that releases. On the whole, I still want a 3DS player for the Wii U.
I think the launch of other video game systems is also good for us - Iwata of Nintendo

Why does everyone think one game will change everything? You need a consistent flow! the 3DS had a AAA almost EVERY MONTH! but it doesn't seem like that will happen next year for the WiiU. Maybe the year after or after e3.

i agree with everthing but this. DK sells great, and it's a great platformer.

This was in the third year of the 3DS, the Wii U has just begun its second. Both the first two years of the 3DS sucked ass and sadly that's normal. You can expect another dry year 2014 but hopefully one like the 3DS had in 2015.
