Nintendo should have bought capcom and square soft back in the early 90s.

I mean think about it. They wouldn't have been too expensive to purchase way back then. They wouldn't have abandoned nintendo during the N64 era (they couldn't since nintendo would own them). Nintendo wouldn't be so starved out for third party exclusives since they'd have access to all of capcom and square's IPs. That'd be more than enough for nintendo to go it alone and not have to rely on third parties. And most importantly, capcom and square's games wouldn't have turned into the crap they are today, because nintendo demands quality. They also wouldn't be in the financial trouble they are in today. Sigh, if only.

Instead of buying them back in the early 90s, they should have looked at why they were leaving Nintendo consoles in the first place.

Crap is a matter of opinion because I actually like most of the SE games and have no real beef or entitlement issues. Even then if Nintendo weren't stupid or arrogant back then they would had kept most of their third party. It's not their fault they saw a winner in the PS1. Not to mention FF probably be as popular as it is now if it weren't FF7 coming out at the right time for the PS1. I suppose it would be a good thing because the fanbase is rather obnoxious and bash people for not liking or hating the same game they do.

In all honesty I'm glad Nintendo were stupid back then, I don't think I would be as big of a gamer if it weren't for the PS1 and the jrpgs. I enjoyed Mario and Sonic back in the day but I wasn't as into games until the PS1 days. I probably wouldn't had known let alone jrpg if it weren't titles LoD, WA2, and FF8.

There was nothing nintendo could have done at that point. The N64 was already out. They couldn't discontinue it after a year and bring out a disc based system. Luckily Nintendo still had Rare during that time.

It's funny, I look at 'kids' these days and how they love Rockstar and Naughty Dog games, it was probably the same how I loved Square and Namco games if the late 90's early 00's. Of course I still stuck with the Nintendo console but the appeal of those games was really strong.

After FFVI most Square games started to become average

In fact, on of my favorite Square games after FFVII was TWEWY, which is on the NDS

Bravely Default, on the 3DS, is also a great game

DQIX on NDS is also one of my favorite DQ games

Also, Capcom stopped making good Mega Man games after the SNES as well

I did however like the Battle Network series, on the GBA

And games like Street Fighter don't count, since it's multi system

PS Only a legit fanboy would want Nintendo to buy out the competition, third part companies should be making games for who they want, when they want, not under the control of some company

That's one of the reasons we won't see another good Rare game on a non-XBox console, not even a Rare game on the VC

Problem is, most 3P groups don't make what they want. They make what publishers want.

Came into topic wanting to say this.

Was already beaten to it.

Oh well, pretty much yea, I agree it's really only the fanboys here that want nintendo to buy up everyone and have a monopoly on the industry( and mind you, a monopoly is the LAST thing you want for ANY company to have.)

Notice some people make a statement that no one agrees with, and passes it along as if it were consensus. As for the topic. Capcom is pretty good at what they do. They do RPGs better than SE nowadays. SE still has some memorable music.
