Any news of the Suica card payment system?

Earlier this year Nintendo of Japan said they were toying with the idea of allowing Suica cards (a type of rail pass you top up from machines, can be used in 7/11s too). Has there been any news on this?

I've been wondering why they just don't make the top up cards with the technology so the pad can read them, rather than a code system. It would make putting the money onto one's account a lot easier.

Suica isnt even used outside of Tokyo metro area. Nintendo has no capacity to roll out an nfc system like that in a wide scale.

Suica and Pasmo have merged to an extent. My Suica card has been used in places like Hiroshima and Gunma to pay for trains and at stuff at shops.
