What they said was at this time they have no plan to implement it but it will be up to the devs. Which means as of right now Ea can block used games and sony will back them. Lets all be realistic here if ms hadnt received heat over it sony would have had it day one. Leaving Nintendo as the only one not doing it.

It's the same thing as with PS3.

If you truly believe that Sony was going to have DRM inside of the console & risk sacrificing the PS brand further after they just got back on their feet with PS3 with the $600 price tag as well as the hacking scandal, you're an idiot.

That's exactly what they tried to do. Read the article above. The only difference is Sony tried to keep it a secret where as Microsoft came out in the open with it. So I guess Sony themselves are idiots?

Like NovaLevossida & FayeLady said, that article doesn't have an actual source, nor does it have a direct quote of the interview described in it, or someone at Sony indicating that it happened.

Also, there's no way in hell that Sony would risk throwing away a lot of goodwill with PS4 after they just got back up on their feet with PS3, knowing that they need as many PS4's sold as they can get.

There you go. I thought it was common knowledge but apparently not. Notice how the date is well before e3 and the x1 announcement. Again it was lately kept quiet and completely ignored by the Sony fanbase.

You need to read this article below:

And this video, which was uploaded 11 months ago about it:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J1D14nWsRyw&hd=1

After the press conference in February. Shuhei Yoshida (President of Sony) said Sony will support used games. Plus usernames Loghorn & EX+ also has articles explaining that Sony never even intended to have DRM inside of the console at all.

Tons of companies have patents; doesn't exactly mean that they will go through with them.

Your article was written months after Sony's 360. I don't understand why you're trying to pretend it didn't happen. It did. It was documented. If you want to say it's not a big deal then fine that's your opinion. But it happened.

They were trying to prove that it's all BS. Also, companies like Sony always files tons of patents, just like the one that you posted, but that doesn't mean that they go through with them.

I'm just saying, Sony's not that stupid, especially after they just had a hard time coming back from the PS3 after the $599 price tag along with the hacking scandals, & knowing that they need all the PS4 sales that they can get.

But that's the whole dam point. It wasn't all bs. They actually tried to do it. You don't think they were licking their chops at the idea of eliminating the used game market meaning everyone had to buy full priced 60 dollar games? That's their dream come true. And of course they knew it would piss people off. That's why they kept it as quiet as they could and let Microsoft do it first. Then after all the backlash they decided to put it on the back burner for a while. Oh and by the way, third parties are still allowed to use those same drm policies if they code it themselves. Sony may not be doing it themselves but they gave the green light for third parties to do it. Meaning they both get what they want and Sony gets none of the blame because people are too short sighted to connect the dots.

And yet you still believe this. Once again, companies filing patents =/= patents are automatically enforced.

As a matter of fact, no one believed that crap because it's definitely BS. Just because Microsoft did it, doesn't exactly mean that Sony will do it. Sony's not a follower, they're a Japanese company, & Japanese companies doesn't work the same way that American companies like Microsoft does.

It's the same way as with PS3 & 360, yet a lot of 3rd party publishers don't even do that, because they know better in which they know that they'll be risking a lot of sales as well as their reputations.

Look at Capcom with the PSN versions of Final Fight: Double Impact & Bionic Commando: Rearmed 2. They did DRM with those games before, & it backfired on them in sales.

Look you can keep denying it all you want man, but it happened. I don't know why you have such a hard time accepting that Sony tried to so it. The evidence is everywhere. Why are you trying so hard to say it isn't so?

Because Sony's not that crazy enough to. And you still don't get that just because that companies files patents like the one that you posted above, doesn't mean that they'll automatically go through with it.

I can't help you any further. I just can't.
