Can't set this to 720p...

So I got my Wii U set up with the Wii component cables.
When on the screen for the Tv quality, it won't let me change it to 720p...
Which is my Tv.
My screen just goes black if I try to change it off fro that 400i
Not sure about number, I just know it's in the 400s.

Idunno. You can't just use HDMI?

That's strange. Try other settings instead? Even if the TV says it's only 720p, it may or may not support higher (mine claims to be 720p, but I'm able to set it to 1080p over both component and HDMI).

And I'm assuming this is an actual component cable (5 plugs into the TV, 3 video/2 audio) and not a composite cable (only 3 plugs into the TV, 1 video/2 audio)? The latter doesn't support anything above 480i.

Course, it could be that the TV only supports 480p over component, and requires HDMI for higher resolutions (though I can't see why that'd be the case, as that's really strange).
