Damn. Nintendo could easily buy them if they ever were in danger of bankruptcy.

I find it hard to believe that they are currently worth anywhere near that amount.

That's not exactly how acquisitions of business go. Nintendo would have to own a majority of Capcom's stock in order to 'buy' them. nonetheless, I have no doubt Nintendo COULD buy Capcom if they wanted to assuming it's a publicly traded company. Problem is Nintendo is too short sighted to see what kind of potential that would offer.

Nintendo needs worry about making more games. Not buying companies they have no chance of buying.

Considering that a giant like EA or Zynga (if its still worth it) are worth around 5 billion, capcom release a fraction of the games and is still worth as much as Ubisoft. They aren't going anywhere

A hostile takeover will cost a lot more than 1.24 billion. they would be over paying for a lot of resources they will not use, like Capcom's publishing projects, not to mention resources tied into projects for non Nintendo platforms. It would not be a sound investment on Nintendo's part.

Problem is you can't just buy a company. They have to be willing to be sold first.

Buying capcom would get them more games.
