So Capcom is only worth 1.24 billion dollars?

Problem is you can't just buy a company. They have to be willing to be sold first.

I know that. I said if they (capcom) were ever in danger of bankruptcy.

Nintendo needs worry about making more games. Not buying companies they have no chance of buying.

Buying capcom would get them more games.

but would it pay off, even if they could buy them? Wii aside, every Nintendo console has had fewer sold with each consecutive generation and lousy attach rates on any game not called Mario kart or smash bros or Super Mario. Bros, and given how niche most of Capcom's games already are amd what Nintendo's key demographics are, then its not hard to do the math.
Its the same principal as to how some multi-million dollar lottery winners go broke after buying $300,000 luxury cars and a mansion. Nintendo would be stupid risk 10% of their entire assets on something that would probably not give a return for a long time, if at all just to appease some angry fans that are in denial about having nothing to play

That's not exactly how acquisitions of business go. Nintendo would have to own a majority of Capcom's stock in order to 'buy' them. nonetheless, I have no doubt Nintendo COULD buy Capcom if they wanted to assuming it's a publicly traded company. Problem is Nintendo is too short sighted to see what kind of potential that would offer.

These. If Nintendo couldn't buy Atlus, then what makes anyone so sure that they can buy Capcom?

All signs indicated that Nintendo did not want to buy Atlus, not that they couldn't. As soon as you left this message board there was zero expectation for Nintendo to acquire the company.
