NO sound coming out of my TV. This is bullcrap.

It's connected via HDMI, I don't understand why this is happening, and for some reason when I switch the menu from the GamePad to the TV, I can't select the icons at all or move the cursor, I have to switch it back to the GamePad.

Is the Wii U set up to send the signal out via HDMI?

Third-party games on Nintendo consoles haven't sold well since the GameCube because they don't perform as well as they should, and that's somehow our fault.

When the icons are displayed on the TV, you have to use a Wiimote, Classic Controller, or Pro Controller to select something.

Have you made any recent changes to your setup? As far as sound, the only thing I can think of would be either to change the sound output settings on the Wii U (don't set it to surround, there's no point in doing so), or some setting on your TV. What TV do you have (Make and Model)?

As far as making selections with the GamePad, it sounds like you're experiencing what is expected, which is that you can only make selections with the GamePad based on what's displayed on the GamePad. This is normal, and you can only make selections on the TV with something like the Wii Remote.

Had the same thing happen to me on W101 the other day. I had to change my settings to component or HDMI only, as I had it on both before.

It was the only game I had that issue with though.

It's a 32 inch Vizio. I can say this, I had a 5.1 surround sound system connected to my TV at the house, which I unplugged and just brought the TV. It was connected with that small black audio cable.. but Idk. I'm not getting any sound out of the TV at all.

I bet I know the issue - your TV is probably set up to only send sound out to your surround sound system. Go into your TV settings and see if you can change them to send sound through your TV speakers.
