Wasn't Chinatown Wars was the only GTA to ever make it to a Nintendo platform? I feel like Rockstar isn't a big fan of Nintendo

They predict the profit they would make from it would not outweigh the cost and risk of developing it.

The end.

It's not worth it for Rockstar.

Too small an audience, and no expectation of real growth.
It costs money to port.
They would probably take a loss doing it.
Nintendo would probably have problems with GTA Online.

Oh, and things like this happen.....

Basically Nintendo should foot the cost of the porting, and expect not a single dime in return if they want to capture AAA titles. Their benefit from the deal is having high-profile games on their system.

Reggie did say that "There's a very good chance GTAV will come to the Wii U". I suppose they'll announce a Wii U version when they announce the next gen versions.

Actually back before Rockstar was Rockstar (forget what they were called) they had a disagreement with Nintendo on something and some bad blood may have formed at that point.

It's not that they are not fans. They release games where they feel there's an audience - since GTA III, there have been Rockstar games on PS2, Xbox, Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, iOS, Android, PC, Mac, PSP, DS, and Windows Phone. The fact that they haven't published on Wii U doesn't mean that they're not fans, it means that they don't think it's a sufficiently profitable use of their development resources.

DMA's first game without Psygnosis came in 1994 when they released Uniracers. Uniracers was published by Nintendo and debuted on the Super Nintendo. Uniracers was a racing game that featured riderless unicycles that did stunts.

Nintendo then asked DMA to join their Dream Team along with other developers such as Rare, Paradigm, Midway and LucasArts. That meant that DMA would produce a title that was exclusive to Nintendo's new system, the Nintendo 64. DMA's Nintendo 64 exclusive was a game called Body Harvest. Body Harvest was a game about aliens arriving on Earth to harvest humans for food. Body Harvest was a third person 3D vehicular game but Nintendo insisted that DMA overhaul the game and implement puzzle and role-playing elements. The game was delayed several times because of the changes and Nintendo eventually dropped their plans to publish it. Midway picked up the rights and released Body Harvest in 1998. Body Harvest got some pretty positive reaction, mostly for it's free-roaming gameplay, something that would be a huge part of the success of Rockstar Games and their Grand Theft Auto series.

GTA 1 and GTA 2 on GBC and GTA Advance on GBA. Never on a console as far as I know.
