I own a 3DS, but I'd hate it if they abandoned the console for the handheld.

Think it should be the other way around.

I would buy it, because it would get a ton of support and hopefully faster releases. The games would be cheaper too, being portable games and all. If Nintendo made a beast of a handheld like the Vita, Sony would have to drop their Handheld line completely. Only a massive ****-up would stop a Nintendo handheld, like a ridiculous price for it or the games.

it took me all the way until the 3DS price drop to realize that handhelds were for more than just pokemon....

so i would hate that (but i would buy it of course..... if it came after 3ds)

I want good games

I don't care what type of system has them

I had both Nintendo's handhelds and consoles for they both had them, but now neither have them

Yes. If Nintendo only focused on a handheld then it'd be a pretty nice system. Personally I expect their next consoles to have quite a heavy focus on connectivity between the handheld and home system.

It would be nice if Nintendo did this post 3DS, and focused on a handheld that could also be played on a television.

I believe there are many, many benefits to this.

I would miss having a new Nintendo home console. That said, if my only way to play Nintendo games was on a handheld I would buy it.

Considering that this is the "most likely" of the NINTENDOOMED scenarios (and even then, this one is far from such an occurrence, not to mention that it's still fascinatingly unlikely) from my point of view, probably. However, word is that their next console/handheld looks to mold the two (home console and handheld system) into one. Google "Nintendo Fusion" if you don't know what I'm talking about.
