Will Nintendo ever publish a game on the same calibur as Last of Us/Uncharted?

Same calibur as Uncharted? Uncharted is an incredibly s***ty cover-based shooter that does literally nothing well... Some of the cinematics are okay, but a game cannot be good for cinematics only, it needs solid gameplay design, and Uncharted doesn't have that. Just about anything you can think of is of a higher calibur than that crap.

*note: haven't played Last of Us yet, waiting for it to hit the bargain bins, solely because the Uncharted series has been so disappointingly terrible, and I don't want to feel burned again... judging from Uncharted alone, Naughty Dog has gone way down since the PS1 days*

Genuine question (I swear):

What's so great about Last of Us... Lot of people I know never shut up about, even sounding confused when I say I haven't played it, but what I've seen of it, it just looks average... I'm not saying it is average, just my opnion...

Is it a "you have to play to know thing?" Because I'm not willing to drop the $60 on it of that's the case...

Ignoring the "nerr storyline nerr voice acting nerr nerr" bull**** you hear from most people who bring it up

Most of them are bitter Nintendo fanboys that can't stand to see a PS3 game having a gameplay that is a bajillion times better than the best Nintendo game ever, PLUS a fantastic storyline to boot.

This. Though Nintendo fanboy's don't have much to begin with, so what else are they going to rag on.

Anyway, Nintendo definitely hasn't yet made a game of Naughty Dog's calibur, but maybe one day they could.

Naughty Dog is one of, if not the best developers around right now. They were amazing back in the PS2 days, now they're phenomenal. They craft their games with perfection. Unlike Nintendo or Microsoft, or any company by that matter, there isn't a specific sort of game they are forced to make for the company's needs.

Sony gives Naughty Dog complete creative control over their project. They do what they want. They release it when they want. They decide how long it takes to finish the game. All of their games have incredible amounts of detail and care, as well as charm put into it. These are the reasons why Naughty Dog is so respected in the gaming community.

Nintendo Fanboy - Obsesses over or worships Nintendo, like it is God or Religion. Delusional. Butthurt from anyone simply stating they dislike Nintendo.

the question should have been do you think Nintendo will ever publish a new ip in which they poor a high level of resources into the games as they would a Zelda or Mario game. the answer is not likely.

Part of what I like about Nintendo games is how they really don't take themselves too seriously. There's always a sort of lightness of tone in each title and Last of Us was just one of many games released last year that was just too busy playing the straight-man when the main enemies were mushroom-headed zombies.

Well..There isn't a game like Uncharted 2. Even on 360. Plus, Nintendo could use a shooter franchise (With Retro Studios making Donkey Kong), So a game like Uncharted might be good.

I'd play more MMOs if there was no chat.

Thought the ending to the last of us was pretty lame. The story was pretty good up until that point, but that ending, just, ugh.

The Last of Us I believe is the new standard in terms of storytelling but you don't always need great storytelling to make a game good. Depending on the game, little to no story is perfectly acceptable.

Sony fanboys are the most annoying, Nintendo fanboys are the most ignorant and Microsoft fanboys are adorable because they think they're people.
