200k for an indie game is pretty damn high

For your average indi game, 200k is a very good number. That's extremely high for most indi games.

The vast majority of Indigames are not going to become viral hits like Flappy Bird did.

To be honest, if you want to see SOTN properly translated to 3D, I'd say look at Dark Souls. Lords of Shadow is a good game in itself, but it's something else entirely.
I think the launch of other video game systems is also good for us - Iwata of Nintendo

Nintendo is making incentives to bring indies to Wii U, like paying the Unity license for Wii U games. These measures don't cost enough to hurt Nintendo's pockets, but are enough to make it worthwhile for indies to put their games on the platform.

just look at how well indie games like gunman clive, mutant mudds, mighty switch force 1 and 2 have done on wii u and 3ds.

I didn't like mutant mudds but renegade kid(I think that's the devs name) have done well for themselves. Gunman clive was made by one person(apart from the soundtrack which was also awesome) and that game was a steal, 2 it was and the gameplay and art style was perfect.

It helps that the indie game devs don't have a lot of competition from other 3rd parties. Wii U owners have to buy something after all.
Also they tend to focus a lot on the kinds of nostalgic crap that a lot of Nintendo fans like.
