Accessing Wii Shop Channel on Wii U?

#1BaaPuffPosted 3/12/2014 10:18:58 AM
Is there anyway to access on my games I bought on the Wii Shop Channel on my Wii for redownload on the Wii U without doing a system transfer?

Cause I've got about 10 games I bought (mostly from Club Nintendo) and haven't played yet on my Wii and thought maybe I could just redownload them on the Wii U's Wii mode. But the Wii Shop Channel on the Wii U doesn't to find any of my old purchases. Help?

No. You have to do the system transfer.

That's disappointing... I wouldn't do a system transfer after all the horror stories I heard and seen about the process,

Can I at least redownload the LoZ: Skyward Sword Glitch Fix somehow without an account on my Wii U's Wii Shop Channel?

Call Nintendo's customer support. They will transfer your games over if you can confirm everything with your club Nintendo account. I had games on my Wii and I decided to get rid of my Wii. I didn't think I was going to buy a Wii U, but I did a few months later. I called support and confirmed my Wii serial number and the Wii shop downloads that were listed on my Club Nintendo account. The call took about a half hour and the next day I went onto the Wii Channel on the Wii U and then the Wii shop and re-downloaded my games. It takes time and a helpful customer service rep but it is possible.

The tansfer is simple and doesn't take too long. You have nothing to fear, plus the Pikmin are slightly entertaining.

You can download the Zelda save glitch fix without doing anything extra, it's a free download.

I was toying around with my Wii and Wii U and had a crazy idea. I took my Wii's SD card and put it in the Wii U and it seems all the games readable from the SD Card.

If I buy a second SD Card, Can I redownload the game from my original Wii's Shop Channel and then store it in the Wii U, I should be able to use the game in Wii U's Wii Mode from the SD Card right? Any idea if this would affect game saves?

Could someone get back to me on this, please? I'd really like to know if it will work or not before I go buy a 2nd SD Card.

You cannot run a game from the SD card if the console doesn't have the authorization to run it. After all, if it was that easy, piracy would be a joke. You must do a system transfer to play those games on your Wii U without having to buy them again.

I kinda figured so but, Ouch. Good thing my Wii is still in good condition then. Thanks you for replying back to me about this.
