The Wii did not follow any trend. That's crazy talk.

The Wii only did right for Nintendo(sales). Motion controls made playing worse and the novelty ran out quickly for most people. Only good for light gun arcade type games. You also had gimmicks like starbits in Mario Galaxy and waggle in DKCR. Over 1300 games, and only maybe 15-20 worth owning. Great ratio. Granted Nes and Snes had a lot of bad games, but id give them a pass for being older. Wii is the only modern system to have walls of bad games at Best Buy, Target , Toys r us etc. Wii actually ruined the Wii U. Casuals are on smart phones, and back stabbed nintendo fans dont want it.

- Came with a pack-in game that not only was it very fun with others and diverse (5 sports, 15 training games which did actually hone your skills at those sports, the daily test feature which was more like a prelude to Wii Fit), but it made crystal clear what was possible with the wiimote. You pick up a wiimote, play Wii Sports and you instantly know what is possible with the Wii.

Wii Sports absolutely hit it out of the ballpark. Wii U lacked a game to do that same thing with the gamepad.

Wha?

480P with an optional component cable set while PS3 was doing 720P with ease?

bout the only thing Wii did that Wii U didn't was launch with a brand new Zelda.

That's why I said remotely. The Wii was right with Sony and Microsoft in introducing retro games for purchase, Indie game purchasing service (it was bad, but it existed),services like Netflix available, a notification system, and Wi-fi. And if you want to count Wii Speak it offered voice and party chat.

I can't think of a single Wii U feature that is exclusive to the 8th generation of consoles

SSB announcement got people in a frenzy by feeding a long line of speculation about whether or not Sonic would be in it. That's something they can't ever get back though.

Attracted the casuals

This. The sole reason for most people to buy the system was to play "Wii bowling" with their friends. MOST people, not everyone.

It wasn't ****.

Also, it wasn't a slightly upgraded version of the previous console with a herp derp screen tacked on the controller.
