The reason Zelda is so captivating is because everyone loves the formula, they love the characters and they love the storyline.

Um... no?

His post reeks of fanboyism, and pure BS.

What is BS about that?

You make it seem easy to lose credibility in one sentence.

Is Zelda a stale formula? Sure. A bit. But you know what? They second they ever announce a futuristic Zelda game regardless of whether it actually strays from the formula or not at all, millions of people will freak the hell out about it. It's a good formula and it works. They just need to vary one thing here and there in order to make people get excited about it. It helps when they... you know, don't go for soft stylized Windwaker inspired visuals.

Of course, the reason Skyward Sword fell flat... is just because it didn't do anything to stand out.

I always thought SS fell short cause many didn't want to try another Zelda with motion controls

I don't think that's the case. The motion controls were about the only real appeal to Zelda Skyward Sword, and that's largely because people wanted to see attacks that mapped more closely to their actual movements... unlike with Twilight Princess where it was a crappy stand-in for a button. It just wasn't a very inspiring game though. It didn't have any kind of hook. The whole schitck of game was just that it was another Link origin story about his sword. We already had one about his hat and the fact that it's just another navi persona did nothing for hype. At least Twilight Princess had that crazy wolf thing. Yeah, it probably ended up appealing to furries more than anyone else, but it was still something that got people wondering what it could lead to.
