To anyone who thinks virtual console is expensive. How much should it cost?

#1Juju_Architect_Posted 4/25/2014 9:07:07 AM
If you're gonna respond with "0" or "99 cents" get out.
If you're gonna respond with no suggestion and instead just say "it's perfect" or "fine" or whatever, get out too.

My suggestion is like this. Universal pricing for both platforms excluding 3D classics

GB - 2 USD
GBC and NES - 3 USD
SNES - 5 USD
GBA - 6 USD**
Nintendo 64 - 8 USD
Nintendo DS - 9 USD**
Gamecube - 12 USD*

*If they ever release it
**Technically the GBA and the DS have better hardware except for the sound quality so they should cost a little more

It should vary based on quality, with the current pricing being the maximum.

Super Mario 3 should not cost the same as NES Pinball, or Urban Champion.

Irregardless of success - the Wii U is a unique and awesome game system that will be fondly remembered like the Dreamcast is today.

GB-NES 50 cents
GBA-SNES 1 dollar
N64 1,5 dollars
DS 2 dollars
Gamecube 2,5 dollars

I'd rather just see a service were you can play any game from any of those systems for max 10 dollars a month(perhaps limited to a certain number of games per month).

NES should be 1.99
SNES- 3.99
N64- 4.99
Gamecube- 8.99
GBA- 3.99
DS- 4.99

I would be buying games left and right at that price but Nintendo has the nerve to over charge for old games.

$1~$3 for anything pre-5th gen (N64/Playstation/Saturn era). $5 for anything 5th gen, ~$10 for 6th gen if they ever get GCN emulation up and running.

And the VC itself needs a serious feature boost. Configurable visual filters (including the option for no filter at all), configurable resolution/scaling, more than one save state, support for all WiiU-compatible controllers (except for WiiMotes in cases more complex than the NES), Turbo/Slowmo modes mappable to buttons, etc.

This works on the Steam principle. I'll buy ten classic games at $2 a pop. I will not buy one at $20, or even four at $5. It's digital data that can be reproduced infinitely at almost no cost, with file sizes generally under 10 megabytes (even N64 games were almost always 32 megabytes or less, usually sub-10) -- in the case of NES games, we're talking on the order of kilobytes. Don't gouge me on it and I'll buy up tons of it and get you a lot of money. Insist on overcharging me and you'll get nothing.

I think the games should be priced at $1.99 but with frequent $.99 sales.

Both the TC and the first post make good points.

I do think no VC game should go beyond 10/12 dollar mark. I also think that there should be a range of about a dollar or two to clearly mark better/more anticipated games.

So, I'd prefer something like this:

GB - 2-3
GBC - 3-4
NES - 3-5
SNES - 5-7
GBA - 6-8
N64 - 8-10
DS - 9-11
GC - 10-12

This. It's the only viable option. PSN should be the same way, no matter what the Pony's say. 2xtreme is a $0.25 game, no way in hell it's worth the same as Crash Bandicoot or Super Mario Bros.
