Backwards compatibility isn't really a reason to buy a console

I mean, if really wanted to play last gen games, id buy/use a last gen console. i dont buy current systems to play older games.

No, it isn't, but it's not a bad reason to buy one sooner than you may have otherwise, especially if you didn't own the previous console.

This.

I like my PS4, but I wish I could toss my PS3 in my console graveyard. The PS3 has a ton of great releases still coming up and I have a huge backlog to get rid of before I retire it.

Lack of backwards compatibility is one of the primary reasons I'm skipping the PS4. I never owned a PS3, so that would've been a great way to catch up on some exclusives I missed.

I agree. However it is nice to have this feature because it's kind of a pain to to have all your consoles plugged in and ready to play at any time. I have about 10 consoles, only 3 hooked up: NES to a Sony PVM monitor, Wii U and Xbox 360. Would love to have a nice entertainment center to store all my systems but thats not gonna happen any time soon.

It shouldn't be a main reason, but its something to look for.

Playstation Now, yo!

I'm not going to pay to rent a game with potentially bad input lag and potential video artifacts when I already own the physical disc of the game.

I don't buy a console just for BC, but it is a strong incentive.

Sure it is. My PS3 was stolen a while ago, so I'd have a good reason to buy a PS4 sooner rather than later if it was backwards compatible.
