- Similar to the Wii Mini, uses Wii U hardware but is missing all secondary features.

- No disc drive. Fitness/wellness programs come on SD cards or are downloadable only.

- Bundled with a redesigned balance board, camera and Vitality Sensor. Does not support Wiimote or Pro Controller.

- Uses Miis, which are transferable from other Nintendo systems in the unlikely event that someone buying the unit already owns one.

- Nintendo characters like Mario and Link make small cameos in the software but are de-emphasized overall.

Call it what you want, it will most likely be something that plugs into the TV to replace the Wii U.

Or a disc that goes into the Wii U.

Wii Fit is a "quality of life" product already.

But the problem lies in their inability to sell the Wii U.

They would have a much better chance at selling a "new" piece of hardware.

Look at the Wii. It was a rebranded Gamecube 1.5 with a new input method, and it still took all the soccer moms and grandmas hook, line and sinker.

And sold nearly 900 million games. Think non gamers would buy that many?
