Trust me, you're not going to want to play the backwards compatible Wii library. I know it sounds like a good idea, but once you try it it becomes much less appealing. It's like going back and playing PS2 games that you've never played before (Thus, no nostalgia).

That kind of feels like you're saying 3DS games are technologically superior to Wii games. There are plenty of Wii games that hold up very well today and he will also have access to the present and future Wii U library.

Smash and Mario Kart 7 look like jokes compared to their bigger brothers on the Wii U too. It would be like playing PS2 games but without the nostalgia compared to the more technologically advanced Wii U games.

3DS.

It's off-topic to talk about the online portion of TLoU. Only the single player campaign is allowed in TLoU's board. - GameFAQs mod

Why not get both? That way you will have the best of both worlds.

Anything over Wii U.

This ultimately depends on what kind of gamer you are. If you are like me, getting the 3DS over the Wii U is a bad proposition. I've had both for a while now and I find that I play the Wii U a hell of a lot more than I play the 3DS. Not all people are like that though.

Not everyone is loaded with cash up the wazoo. If I did, I would and then this topic would never have existed in the first place.

Would you be interested in the 2ds?

Since the discount is percentage-based, you save more money by using it on a Wii U. If you plan to get both at some point, you're saving more money now by buying a Wii U... assuming no price drops at least. They're both very likely to have price drops either way.

Absolutely not, I was turned off by it the moment I saw the abomination. It doesn't fold, it looks bulkier than the original GameBoy. Not sure how you can slip that thing into a pocket and go somewhere with it.
