I'm getting sick of buying $20/$35 eShop cards and there are many things I want get for my 3DS/Wii U over time. I really want to download VC games and other stuff for 3DS/Wii U, but buying cheap eShop cards is becoming such a hassle!

Should I just shell out for a $50 card?

I find it easier and safer to buy the cards.

I've always found the $35 cards better than the $20 & $50 ones. But nearest place that carry the $35 cards is Target.

Going out all the time to buy the cards is easier than just entering a password? ok

Really I just keep my debt card on things like this. I'd rather buy a game and not get charged tax than go to the store, get charged tax, and then have less cash to spend on the digital shop itself. Also you said you find it safer to use cards but, you don't have to keep your card on record. I keep it on record on a few things, but for the most part I just enter it in every time.

Still if you really want to buy a $50 card, go for it. It just depends on how much the games you buy are, and how much you will have left over.

So long as they're selling for the price on the card, no card is really any better a deal than any other. What you need to look out for are sales. A while back, Best Buy was selling them at 20% off, and I picked up 6 $50 cards for $40 each. Saved $60 on game expenses, and if keep an eye out for eShop sales (like Darksiders 2 for $20), I save even more.
