It's not even a console for North America, Japan, or Europe... you people really need to learn how to read, I'm starting to think you folks are a bunch of primitive sub-humans -.-

People saying RIP Wii U when it's not even going to be part of OUR console generation, I seriously say that if you can't be bothered to read the article and understand what it's saying, you aren't mature or intelligent enough to give a valid opinion.

You're making yourselves look bad. Very very bad.

It's legit but it's not for America or Japan but China.

An emerging market is a country that has some characteristics of a developed market but is not a developed market. This includes countries that may be developed markets in the future or were in the past. It may be a nation with social or business activity in the process of rapid growth and industrialization. The economies of China (excluding Hong Kong and Macau, as both are developed) and India are considered to be the largest.

Iwata has told Reuters that Nintendo will offer the new hardware in countries like China, and that it'd be targeted toward those with lower income and less gaming experience.

Hmm.. microtrans/freemium Nintendo console?

I predicted it'd be a DRM-only console box, because it's cheap to manufacture, and it puts all the software security into Nintendo's hands via an eShop-like store tied to a Nintendo Network ID. If it's a digital download box, they can easily make it smaller than the Wii Mini and market it for the equivalent of $99 in yuan.

Microsoft is gonna wish they had dropped the disc drive model Xbox One for their China debut, they aren't going to make any money in game sales because people will just bootleg games for it. Hopefully Nintendo will be smart and not make the same mistakes.

Christ, does this ever scream "company in chaos!!" if I've ever seen it.

No it's actually a pretty smart idea, selling a premium device in an emerging market isn't effective because they're mostly designed to be affordable for general households to use in developed countries. The general households in developed countries are going to be more equivalent to the upper end of emerging markets.

This would be selling a budget console with budget games(perhaps even just old software because they quality is still there with Nintendo games) at budget prices.

Is China still considered "developing"? Their GDP has already surpassed numerous "first world" countries and is due to surpass the US's in the coming decade.

So now Nintendo is gonna stretch resources to develop for this thing to. Not good for the Wii U since it needs all the attention Nintendo can give it.

They aren't a developing country, but their video gaming market is "emerging" after a lengthy ban.
